Wrens

Our Reception class is taught by Mrs May with support from Mrs Freeman.  The Reception curriculum follows the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework and pupils are provided with many opportunities to develop their core skills through topic learning in preparation for KS1. We currently use the structure of  Jolly Phonics for our phonics scheme.

We record progress using pupil asset.

Robins

This is a combined Year 1/2 class taught by Mr Nicholls, with support from Mrs Newby. We follow the 2014 National Curriculum for KS1 and the learning challenge curriculum to plan lessons and learning objectives to ensure that all students meet these requirements. We record progress using pupil asset, an online system based on a pupil’s understand of each of the curriculum objectives.

The timetable has been developed such that there is a focus on English (including Phonics) and maths before lunchtime with other subjects being used to develop a wider understanding of the application of these core skills.

 

Skylarks

This is a combined Year 3/4 class taught by Mr East, with support from Mrs Lee and Miss Mayhew. We follow the 2014 National Curriculum for KS2 and the learning challenge curriculum to plan lessons and learning objectives to ensure that all students meet these requirements. We record progress using pupil asset an online system based on a pupil’s understand of each of the curriculum objectives.

The timetable has been developed so that there is a focus on Reading, Writing and maths before lunchtime with other subjects being used to develop a wider understanding of the application of these core skills. We rotate foundation and creative subjects.

This is a  Year 5/6  class taught by Mr James. We follow the 2014 National Curriculum for KS2 and plan lessons and learning objectives to ensure that all students meet these requirements. We record progress using pupil asset an online system based on a pupil’s understand of each of the curriculum objectives.

The school day has been developed so that there is a focus on Reading, Writing and maths before lunchtime with other subjects being used to develop a wider understanding of the application of these core skills. Year 6 has a focus on SATs exams in the Spring and Summer terms and the class is often taught using group work to accommodate this.
